The case features tilted motherboard placement for better airflow.
Cougar has officially launched their latest flagship PC case, named Cratus, with highly flexible building options. The most distinct feature is the tilt-forward design, which rotates the motherboard slightly downwards to promote better airflow. The company’s reasoning is pretty straightforward: going by convection principle, since hot air rises on top of cold air, a tilt-forward design will help hot air escape more smoothly.
Around the case is the steel tube frame design which greatly reinforces the chassis (much like racing cars), with tinted panels on the front and side. There’s an abundance of cutouts here and there so intake is unlikely to be an issue, though dust accumulation could be something to note with a semi open-air case like this. The tilted design also gives extra room for PSUs to sit right under it.
There’s also a single RGB light strip in the front which connects to 5V ARGB headers on motherboards, for which up to EATX form factor is supported. The clearance is quite generous – assuming the intake fans are installed in the front and not on the side, there is up to 460mm worth of GPU clearance to work with. With the intake fans installed on the side however, that number is reduced to 325mm – still good enough for some high end cards to fit. The chassis supports radiators up to 360mm, CPU cooler clearance up to 190mm, 9 fans, 2x 3.5″ HDD bays and 3x 2.5″ SSD bays.
The Cougar Cratus is now available with the US pricing of $499 – no Malaysian pricing has been revealed so far.
Pokdepinion: I imagine carrying this case won’t be the easiest thing to do, but hey – you don’t really move PC cases, do you?
