AMD Ryzen 8000G Series Leaked, 5000GT Series In The Works?

In the latest round of leaks for AMD’s upcoming Ryzen 8000G series APUs, this time around comes from an Iranian media outlet sakhtafzarmag. It claims to have a full list of specs for the available SKUs, consisting of 14 models. It’s alleged that three models – 8700G, 8600G, and 8500G – will be released on January 31, 2024 (alongside Ryzen 7 5700X3D, it also claimed).

According to the table, these 14 models are categorized under the standard G-series (65W), GE-series (35W), and their respective PRO-series counterparts intended for business systems. Notably, the range includes two Phoenix variants – with the Phoenix 2 featuring the new “hybrid-core” Zen 4 + Zen 4c design that first debuted on AMD Z1 and Ryzen 5 7545U. As a result, these chips feature lower base clocks compared to their Phoenix 1 counterparts.

The outlet also provided a rather vague-looking GPU performance comparison, given that no model is explicitly mentioned (likely to protect the sources or avoid directly breaking embargo), so kindly take these charts with a pinch of salt. Should these comparisons correspond to a real chip with its identity hidden, we’re looking at a very capable onboard GPU compared to the old Vega-based iGPU on the Ryzen 5000 series.

Meanwhile, the report also touched on the new GT-series processors that are planned for Q1 2024. The nature of these chips is unclear at this time, although it’s mentioned that they are intended to replace the existing 5600G. There’s also a 5700 “NPU” model coming by the end of January – and most people’s understanding of the term “NPU” would point to “neural processing unit”, which is a type of processor designed for AI workloads. Is Ryzen AI coming for Socket AM4? Time will tell.

Pokdepinion: Ryzen AI in 5000 series would be interesting – if my assumption is correct.
