AMD’s new Zen 5 lineup of processors, consisting of Ryzen 9000 desktop CPUs and Ryzen AI 300 APUs, was announced earlier this June – but it won’t be long until they’re officially in the hands of customers, if the information from various overseas retailers are anything to go by.
AMD Ryzen Launch Date Revealed, Unofficially
Two of the US retailers, B&H Photo and Best Buy, have revealed the launch dates of the new Ryzen processors and the new Ryzen AI-powered laptops – in this case, the new ASUS Zenbook S 16 laptop. Oddly enough, we can still access the pages at this writing, and there seems to be no effort in hiding the page as AMD hasn’t officially announced the exact date of Zen 5 Ryzen’s launch (though it did say July).

The listing on B&H Photo, which includes all four Ryzen 9000 CPUs (9950X, 9900X, 9700X, 9600X), has all listed the pre-order date of July 31st, but the listing has contained no images, which is usually a sign of unintended listing. Meanwhile, the Best Buy’s listing of the upcoming ASUS Zenbook S 16 laptop reveals the launch date on July 15th, though this looks like an actual listing as the information have been properly listed. It’s also worth noting that laptop CPUs rarely gets a clear cut release date, but this listing gives us a clear indication.
Meanwhile, Intel’s next-gen offering in the form of Lunar Lake (laptop) and Arrow Lake (desktop) will have to wait. The former is expected to arrive in Q3 2024, while the latter may launch in Q4 2024. This gives AMD plenty of head start for its new chips, which may convert into solid sales for Team Red in the first several months.

Pokdepinion: AMD is definitely getting a huge head start in desktop CPUs – there’s also 9000X3D, remember.
