AMD has launched launched five models under its Ryzen 9000 banner thus far, which includes four X-series chips (9950X, 9900X, 9700X & 9600X), plus the new Ryzen 7 9800X3D. Now, the question becomes when the non-X series, which often comes cheaper, will launch: and we have the answer courtesy of leaker @AnhPhuH on X (Twitter).

Ryzen 9000 Non-X Coming Soon?

While the chipmaker most likely will put focus on its expansive laptop lineup based on leaks thus far, we may see a few desktop chips announced along the way too. According to Videocardz, this includes the aforementioned Ryzen 5 9600, as well as two other X3D models – the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and Ryzen 9900X3D. Both models reportedly share the same late-January launch period as the Ryzen 5 chip.

That being said, what kind of specs are we looking at? For one, it’s likely to retain the same 65W TDP as before (especially as even the 9600X runs 65W by default before AMD opens up the 105W mode due to popular demand), but to differentiate the two, the non-X should come with lower clockspeeds (below 5.4GHz) and limited overclocking capabilities.

However, the leaker further points out that the Ryzen 5 9600, as it is expected to be called, “could” come with an included CPU cooler in the packaging to sweeten the deal for budget gamers. Originally, the stock cooler was included in the 9600X’s packaging, but that wasn’t the case when the chip was launched this August.

Pokdepinion: A new option for budget gamers – though I’d imagine Intel’s chips might still have better value in the budget side of the CPU market.
