Intel Core i9-14900KS Appears In The Wild, Specs Revealed
Rumors of Intel’s next “KS” chip under the guise of 14th Gen is pretty scarce even though everyone knows it’ll eventually launch at some point – however, a test entry on OCCT (spotted by BenchLeaks), a benchmarking and stability testing software, has appeared to reveal the specs of this special edition silicon on its entirety.
The specs listed in the entry turn out to be in line with expectations. It features 24 cores (8P+16E), a higher 150W TDP, with an extra +200MHz overclock over the standard 14900K to a 6.2GHz max turbo clock. Interestingly, OCCT labeled it as a “Production Unit”, meaning this chip should be very close to formal release in the coming months.
The detailed test data shows the power draw, temperatures, and plenty of other metrics – but the run was only a few seconds long, so it’s hard to make any conclusions out of it. We do know that this seems to be at the initial phase of what looks to be a stress test, given that power has spiked past 400 watts at one point, with the CPU temperatures still not reaching the throttling limit (although the values reported by the motherboard seems to indicate thermal limit has been reached).
Regardless, the KS-series chips are never designed to be a mainstream chip or a value option, so it’s largely reserved for those who want special hardware on their hands or are keen to seek extra performance with a “golden sample” chip. Expect this CPU to be revealed soon enough, though Intel has so far not mentioned the existence of this model officially.
