The recently released AMD Ryzen 8000G series has won praise for its graphics performance (including ours), but it’s also getting noticed by extreme overclockers for its ability to push DDR5 memory to its absolute limits. ASUS’s in-house overclocker SafeDisk has managed to perform an overclock at DDR5-10600, making it the fastest DDR5 record on Socket AM5 platforms.

This record is done using the ASUS ROG Crosshair X670E Gene, coupled with G.Skill Trident Z5 (DDR5-7800 CL36 stock) on a dual-channel configuration – meaning two RAM modules both clocked at DDR5-10600. Prior to this record attempt, the record was previously held by the same Ryzen 7 8700G chip paired with the GIGABYTE B650E AORUS Tachyon motherboard at the speed of DDR5-10346.

Despite running at a face-melting speed of DDR5-10600 and operating at a rather leisurely 1.45V (by extreme overclocking standards, of course) and CL50 timings, no exotic cooling solutions were required to cool either the CPU or the RAM. While there were reports of AGESA bug potentially reporting higher RAM speeds than actual values, SafeDisk proved the overclock via an oscilloscope as the evidence to prove the attempt.
While this didn’t break the all-time record held by Intel processor’s entries, the fact that it is done in a dual-channel configuration, which introduces a second point of failure when extreme overclocking can be highly unstable, is nothing short of an impressive feat in itself. It’s also worth noting that this dual-channel overclock has just edged out Intel’s record at DDR5-10382.

Pokdepinion: Didn’t expect a Ryzen chip to take memory overclocking records – though to be fair, G-series have different IMCs.
