While AMD has announced two new Ryzen 9000X3D chips earlier at CES 2025, there hasn’t been any specific launch dates mentioned besides the first quarter of the year. French publication Cowcotland cited insider sources, alleging that both processors will be launching by the end of this March.
9950X3D & 9900X3D Coming This March?

“Regarding availability, our sources tell us that the two new AMD [Ryzen 9000X3D processors] will arrive at the end of March, so around the same time as the new Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT,” Cowcotland wrote in its article (machine translated). Videocardz further confirmed with the French publication that the information comes from “a trusted source close to the retail channels”.

AMD has already announced the full specs of the two new chips since the CES announcement, with the Ryzen 9 9950X3D featuring 16 Zen5 cores, while the Ryzen 9 9900X3D has 12 Zen5 cores; both chips will featuring matching TDPs to their non-X3D counterparts, as a result of the new 3D V-Cache design that allows for better heat dissipation.
The main feature of the new chips are of course the extra cache thanks to the stacked 3D cache design, which greatly benefit memory-sensitive workloads, such as gaming. However, it’s worth noting that the 12-core Ryzen 9 9900X3D will likely perform worse in games due to its 6+6 CCD configuration, compared to the native 8-core CCD seen in both the Ryzen 7 9800X3D and the upcoming Ryzen 9 9950X3D.
Pokdepinion: That’s taking a while – but if that means better stock supply, then it’s not all bad news.
