LG is set to expand its high-end OLED gaming monitor lineup with the UltraGear GX9 series, debuting at CES 2025. The lineup includes the 45GX990A, a recipient of three CES 2025 Innovation Awards, including “Best of Innovation,” plus other two curved OLED panels tagging along for this announcement.

LG UltraGear GX9 Series

The UltraGear GX9 series consists of three models, the 45GX990A, 45GX950A, plus the 39-inch model we’ll discuss in a bit. Both 45-inch models feature curved 5K2K (5120 x 2160, 21:9 aspect ratio) display panels equipped with LG’s WOLED panel plus AGLR (anti-glare low-reflection) coating. However, the former has took some ideas from the LG OLED Flex TV launched 2 years ago for its bending capabilities: it’s motorized, and can be curved to a 900R curvature or flattened based on user preference.

If the motorized option is perhaps a bit too avant-garde for you, there’s the sister model 45GX950A that features a fixed 800R curvature and the same 45-inch 5K2K OLED panel with ultra slim bezels to boot. Both models feature the same DisplayPort 2.1, HDMI 2.1, and 90W USB-C connectivity, plus support for adaptive sync technologies from both GPU vendors.

LG also notes that OLED panel in both 5K2K monitors has a new RGWB (red-green-white-blue) subpixel layout that improves text readability, which is a somewhat common issue on OLED panels; that said, no refresh rate figures have been publicized at this time, though we know the pixel response time is quoted as 0.03ms – standard for OLEDs.

Additionally, the smaller 39GX90SA comes integrated LG’s webOS platform, which offers access to various streaming services, no PC or set-top box required; it’s also got the same 21:9 aspect ratio as the models aforementioned, though resolution and refresh rate is unknown. The monitor also features an 800R curvature, and comes with HDR capabilities; LG also mentions USB-C connectivity and included L-shape stand to save desk space.
