LG Launches 49-Inch Curved UltraGear Monitor With 240Hz Refresh Rate

LG has unveiled UltraGear 49GR85DC, featuring a 49-inch, 32:9 curved dual-QHD (5120 x 1440) panel with a 1000R curvature, at up to 240Hz of refresh rate plus 1ms GtG response time. This VA-powered panel is also VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certified, with a 3000:1 contrast ratio, peak brightness of 1000 nits (sustained brightness listed as 450 nits) and 95% of DCI-P3 coverage.

As a 32:9 ultrawide, the monitor comes supported with Picture-in-Picture (PIP) and Picture-by-Picture (PBP) modes; connectivity options include a single DisplayPort 1.4 and two HDMI 2.1 ports, 2x downstream USB-A ports, as well as the headphone jack which supports DTS Headphone:X standard. Much like other redesigned UltraGear models, there’s a hexagonal-shaped LED backlighting behind the display.

“As the gaming monitor market continues to mature and grow, so too does the demand for expansive displays offering high refresh rates and superb picture quality,” said Seo Young-jae, senior vice president and head of the IT business unit of LG Electronics Business Solutions Company. “Designed for gaming, but equally suited to multitasking, the new LG UltraGear is a versatile, premium display solution that shows our commitment and ability to satisfy the diverse needs of today’s consumers.”

The LG UltraGear 49GR85DC is currently only available in US regions (priced $1,299), however the model will be launched next month in Europe, while Asian regions will follow at a later date.

Pokdepinion: At this price point the VA panel seems slightly underwhelming, could’ve gone with mini-LED or OLED really.
