Imagine picking up what is effectively a PC unobtanium in a trash bin: that’s what Reddit user This_Explanation_514 did, and what he picked up is possibly the most powerful GPU the world has ever seen before RTX 5090 releases, the quad-slot “RTX 4090 Ti”, or sometimes referred as “TITAN Ada”.
An RTX 4090 Ti In The Wild
This never-released quad-slot monstrosity of a graphics card from NVIDIA has a bit of a mythical status due to its alleged specs and some unique designs that enables this level of performance. For one, unlike most GPUs, the PCB is rotated sideways to the PCIe connector, while the rest is a huge hunk of metal aimed to contain 600 watts of power (or even beyond) this GPU was reportedly designed to consume.
The user claimed, “I just moved and pulled this out of a junk computer bin, and started wondering if there was a PCB in this huge thing,” with subsequent photos showing some minor cosmetic damages around the card. The photos showed another unique feature this giant GPU, with a hidden VGA support bracket mount that is likely a necessity due to the card’s extreme weight, and to give you an idea of just how huge this thing is, looking at the PCIe bracket attached to the GPU should give you some clue.
It’s unclear if this card is at all functional, but based on the comments in Reddit so far, looks like everyone wants the user to give the card to none other than Steve of GamersNexus himself to take a close look. If nothing else, it surely is a unique piece of NVIDIA’s history, isn’t it?
