From the makers of Gboard Caps, Google Japan is back with wacky keyboard design one year later, this time based on the Möbius loop. The double-sided, 26-module design packs as many as 208 keys, which is exactly double the key count full-size Windows-based keyboards offer today.

To “market” this keyboard, the team has also published an equally wacky video that involves one half normal content, and another half becoming something coming out of your weirdest dreams. They explained, “if you turn the keyboard upside down, you can’t type at all. After racking our brains trying to find a solution to this major problem, we came up with this keyboard.” In its blog, Google Japan also referred it as a “fortune-telling keyboard” in the FAQ section.

Another use case of this keyboard comes in the form of collaborative effort, as shown in the image where several users sit in a circle typing on the same keyboard. Funnily enough, while this keyboard is anything but normal, it does come with a few normal features: hot-swappable MX switches, and per-key RGB lighting that makes it perfect to double as a Christmas wreath too. No wireless connectivity though, you’ll have to use a USB-C cable – a surprising downside compared to most keyboards.

Like usual, Google Japan has open-sourced the double-sided Gboard on GitHub for anyone ambitious enough to built this exact unit for reasons that perhaps nobody would ever know. But hey, who knows what they’re going to come up in the next October 1st (the date written in US format, 10/1, resembles 101-key)?
