The GMK TriggerKey is not your run-of-the-mill mechanical keyboard switches: the company says this is a new mechanical key system built around a patented lever-based actuation mechanism that allows users to adjust both the actuation point and keycap tilt angle, effectively giving owners of conventional mechanical keyboards more control over typing feel without replacing their existing MX-style switches.

How GMK TriggerKey Works

The GMK TriggerKey replaces the traditional vertical actuation found in standard mechanical switches with a lever mechanism – this allows users to fine-tune the actuation point within a range of 0-2mm, and to set the tilt angle of each keycap anywhere between 0-34°. The tilt adjustment helps to promote a more natural hand position and reduce strain during extended use.

Each keycap is made from doubleshot ABS and includes two integrated adjustment screws for precise tuning. A stainless steel pivot pin ensures smooth and consistent key action, and the company describes the movement as “zero-friction.” The system uses a POM stem cap, with three interchangeable stem cap heights available at 0.7mm, 1.2mm, and 1.7mm, allowing users to further tailor the feel and response of each key.

The TriggerKey snaps directly onto compatible switch housings and supports both north- and south-facing switch orientations. It is compatible with most MX-style switch housings, including Cherry and most Gateron switches, though do note that it is not compatible with most Hall Effect switches or Kailh Box-style switch designs. GMK notes that the lever mechanism may alter the force curve of the underlying switch to some degree, depending on the switch used and the adjustment settings applied.

The GMK TriggerKey is currently in stock and available through GMK’s online store – each set includes four TriggerKeys, three interchangeable stem cap variations, an installation tool, an adjustment tool, and a premium storage case. The set is priced at €49 (~RM224).
