In line with announcements from both CPU chipmakers, ASUS has introduced its latest lineup of Intel B860, AMD B850, and B840 motherboards, as well as some additional flagship X870E and Z890 models.
New ASUS Motherboards
Starting with Intel B860 models, the flagship ROG Strix B860-F Gaming WiFi motherboard features PCIe 5.0 GPU and Thunderbolt 4 connectivity, while audio is delivered through ROG SupremeFX ALC4080 codec. Other ROG Strix models include the visually distinct ROG Strix B860-A Gaming WiFi, mATX-based ROG Strix B860-G Gaming WiFi, and the mini-ITX ROG Strix B860-I Gaming WiFi.
The TUF Gaming B860 series consists of three models. The TUF Gaming B860-Plus WiFi comes in a full-sized ATX form factor, while microATX models such as the TUF Gaming B860M-Plus WiFi offer similar performance in a more compact design. There is also the third B860M-Plus model, sans Wi-Fi support; for mainstream PC builders, the ASUS Prime series is available with several variants: Prime B860-Plus WiFi, Prime B860M-A WiFi, and their non-WiFi counterparts. The Prime B860M-K serves as the entry level model for the entire lineup.
Moving on to AMD motherboards, the ROG Strix B850-E Gaming WiFi leads the lineup with 16+2+2 power stages, PCIe 5.0 x16, dual PCIe 5.0 M.2 slots, Wi-Fi 7, and USB4; the ROG Strix B850-F Gaming WiFi offers similar performance with fewer premium features, while the ROG Strix B850-A Gaming WiFi offers a white-colored design for specific PC builds. Rounding up the AMD B850 lineup is the mini-ITX ROG Strix B850-I Gaming WiFi that fits into SFF cases.
The TUF Gaming B850 series includes the TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi and micro-ATX B850M-Plus variants (with or without Wi-Fi). The Prime B840 series serves the entry-level market, featuring 2.5G Ethernet, Wi-Fi 6E, and three M.2 slots, with B840-Plus WiFi and mATX-based B840M-A (WiFi) representing AMD’s lowest-end 800-series chipsets.
On the top-end, ASUS is also introducing two new Z890 chipset motherboards: the ROG Maximus Z890 Hero BTF with rear-connector design, and the ROG Strix Z890-H Gaming WiFi. Over at Team Red, ASUS also debuts the first ever Crosshair Apex motherboard designed solely for extreme overclocking with AMD Ryzen processors; the company also teased the flagship Crosshair X870E Extreme debuting at a later date.
Pokdepinion: Just noticed, ProArt is absent in mid-range models. Perhaps it is now for high-end chipsets only, or will debut at a later date?
