Razer Claims World’s First 8000Hz Wireless Mouse With Viper Mini Signature Edition

The new firmware update cranks the polling rate to match the fastest wired options on the market.

Viper Mini Signature Edition

Razer has announced a new firmware update for its limited-edition Viper Mini Signature Edition model that brings “world’s first” 8000Hz polling rate wirelessly – breaking the previous 4000Hz limit from its HyperPolling wireless dongle.

For the uninitiated, the Razer Viper Mini Signature Edition is the brand’s lightest mouse to-date, with magnesium alloy construction that sheds weight down to just 49 grams, despite carrying a battery which often introduces a small weight penalty when compared to wired equivalents.

Razer says the update goes live on 24th of April – which should be live by the time you read this – if you happen to be one of the owners of this mouse, you can download the latest firmware here (click on Drivers & Downloads tab on the left pane).

Pokdepinion: While it’s nice to have wireless matching wired mice’s performance, I doubt going from 4000Hz to 8000Hz would be noticeable for most people anyway. Still, it’s free upgrade, so why not?
