Google Chrome on Android Will Finally Get Password-Protected Incognito Mode

Worry about prying eyes looking into your private browsing session? Worry not.

After rolling out the feature for iOS app, Google is now rolling out the protected Incognito Mode to Chrome for Android. The feature allows users to lock their private browsing session behind a security lock, either by biometrics such as face scanning, fingerprints or simply by a password. Once the user leaves the session, they will be prompted before re-accessing it.

To enable the feature, go to Settings, and under Privacy & Security, turn on Lock incognito tabs when you close Chrome option. However, as TechCrunch noted, some users may not see this feature yet – in which case they need to manually enable the flag by typing this address (without quotes): “chrome://flags/#incognito-reauthentication-for-android”.

Aside from this feature, Google has announced a few minor improvements – which also covers the PC client – including enabling easier access to quickly clean browsing data and ‘personalized recommendations and reminders’ to help users better manage website’s behaviors (i.e. review notification settings when a website sends too many prompts).

Pokdepinion: That’s one feature Google finally caught up to Samsung Internet (it’s pretty underrated really, very powerful browser for Android).
