In 2022, Netflix introduced an ad-supported plan costing USD 7 / CAD 6 / GBP 5 / EUR 6. Earlier this year, the streaming giant announced the removal of its Basic plan, the cheapest ad-free option priced at $10/€5 a month. Now, this change is being implemented as multiple Reddit users report receiving notifications that their Basic plan is ending. Subscribers must now choose between the ad-supported plan or one of the two other ad-free plans: the $15.50 FHD option or the $23.00 4K option.

The ad-supported plan has gained significant popularity, though it’s not yet available in all markets. It has already attracted 40 million subscribers. If you’re considering this tier, be aware that some TV shows and movies are unavailable due to licensing restrictions, according to Netflix. However, ads are not shown on Kids profiles, and Netflix Games remains ad-free.
