redBus has launched natively within the Grab app in Malaysia as part of Grab’s Partner Apps ecosystem, bringing intercity bus and ferry booking directly to Grab users without requiring a separate app download or account. The integration covers access to over 200 operators across Malaysia and Singapore, carrying the same user interface into the delivery app.

With this, users can plan domestic intercity journeys, high-volume Malaysia-Singapore cross-border routes, and ferry trips between Malaysia and Indonesia entirely within the Grab app, with GrabPay checkout and GrabCoins applicable. No separate login or additional download is required, as the redBus service appears as a Partner App within Grab, meaning the function sits alongside Grab’s own ride-hailing, food delivery, and other services in the main menu.

redBus Chief Business Officer Krishnan Ramaswami noted that customers increasingly expect travel services to be accessible within the digital platforms they already use, and that the partnership with Grab is aimed at reducing friction in the travel planning journey to make intercity and cross-border travel more discoverable and convenient for Malaysian users.

To mark the launch, redBus and Grab are offering a 50% discount on eligible bookings made through the Grab Partner App during the promotional period, applicable to qualifying transactions completed within the Grab app. The integration is live in both Malaysia and Singapore, while ferry routes covered include services between Malaysia and Indonesia, in addition to the domestic and cross-border bus routes already available through its existing operator network.

Pokdepinion: redBus embedding itself inside Grab should be good news for Grab users, although I do think there’s a bigger userbase in TnG eWallet that’s worth exploring as well.
