[WWDC 2025] Apple Announces macOS Tahoe 26 With Enhanced Continuity & Gaming Features

Apple has unveiled macOS Tahoe 26 at WWDC25, bringing a refreshed design featuring ‘Liquid Glass’, along with new productivity tools, and expanded integration with iPhone features. Users will immediately see the big visual change with this update, prominently featuring glass-like elements throughout the macOS interface when it goes live later this year.

First of all, Continuity is enhanced with the Phone app now available on Mac, supporting Recents, Voicemails, Call Screening, and Hold Assist; Live Activities from iPhone appear in the Mac menu bar, enabling real-time updates on events like flights or sports, with added interactivity via iPhone Mirroring. Spotlight meanwhile receives its most significant update, allowing users to perform actions like sending emails or creating notes directly from the search box.

macOS Tahoe introduces the Apple Games app as a dedicated platform for users to access games, find new titles, and manage sessions – like many of the Windows-based game launchers, the new app’s Game Overlay enables users to adjust system settings, chat or invite a friend, and enable Low Power Mode when running on battery. This version also introduces Apple’s Metal 4 API, which features MetalFX Frame Interpolation as its second framerate-boosting tech and MetalFX Denoising for ray/path tracing graphics.

Like iOS 26, macOS Tahoe also gets the same set of new Apple Intelligence features, including Live Translation, smarter Shortcuts, context-aware actions, along with updated Genmoji and Image Playground. Additional updates include improved Safari performance and security, along with new features in Messages, Journal, Photos and FaceTime; accessibility improvements include Magnifier and Braille Access, while Passwords now tracks changes and history.
