Windows 11 Start Menu Spotted With A New Redesign, And It’s Definitely An Improvement

One of the pain points among Windows 11’s design changes is the Start Menu – while Windows 10 gives plenty of freedom to customize how it functions, the new OS is more restrictive in this regard, especially as some people dislikes the presence of Recommended section. A new redesign spotted by @phantomofearth on X might change just that.

Windows 11 Gets Improved Start Menu

The new look as spotted in Dev and Beta versions of Windows 11 features a bigger Start Menu in size, but more notably, gone is the Recommended section (which you can add it later) and in its place is the full list of applications you can access, without needing to click the small ‘All Apps’ button like in the current design. Better yet, this can be organized in different views (category, name list, name grid) to the user’s preference.

It’s certainly an improvement over current implementation, especially if you’re a longtime user of Windows 10’s Start Menu, where the immense flexibility allows you to arrange app icons in just about any way possible, along with configuring the general layout in multiple ways.

No word on when the redesign will see the light of day in standard release, given that this is still in development, things can still change as Microsoft aims to polish the feature until it’s ready to go. Either way, this is one of the features I genuinely look forward to, just to make Windows 11 a tad bit more friendlier to power users.

Pokdepinion: Finally a good redesign after seeing many bad UI decisions.
