The ASUS ROG Astral GPUs are among the most expensive models available on the market with all the power and features you can get, but if you own one of the Astral RTX 5080s today, the company has prepared a new vBIOS update (as spotted by Videocardz) so you can quite literally download more power.

ROG Astral RTX 5080 Now Gets 450W

From the get-go, the ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5080 already features increased TGP over stock variants: by default, RTX 5080 consumes 360W, with optional TGP increase to 400W on most AIB cards – ASUS opted to increase that to the maximum out-of-the-box, which meant it has no room to increase TGP any further.

With this update however, owners of the card can increase the TGP up to 450W, which should provide extra headroom for more performance should any workload needs it. That being said, as shown in TechPowerUp’s data, GPU’s power draw has out-scaled games’ ability to fully utilize them, so a 12.5% additional increase in TGP (or 25% over RTX 5080 default) is unlikely to bring significant performance improvements, as evidenced through GIGABYTE’s card that also features 450W TGP at its maximum.

Still, with how overbuilt ROG’s cooler is, the card certainly will have no problem keeping all the heat in check, considering you’ll be paying immense price tags to obtain one of these cards. If you want to download this new update, simply head to the GPU’s product support page and it’ll appear as the first entry in the list.
