Yinson GreenTech has released chargEV 2.0, a significant update to the chargEV app that overhauls the EV charging experience for Malaysian electric vehicle owners. The update focuses on reducing friction at every step of the process, from finding a charger to monitoring your session, and arrives alongside the app’s milestone of surpassing one million charging sessions facilitated across its network.
The update is rolling out to the general user base today, July 28, and is available now on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
chargEV 2.0: One-Click Charging and AutoCharge
The headline features of chargEV 2.0 are two new ways to begin a charging session with minimal effort.
One-click charging automatically surfaces the connected charger the moment you plug it into your vehicle. The app identifies the charger and brings it to your attention immediately, so all you need to do is confirm with a single tap to get the session underway.
AutoCharge goes a step further. Once the initial setup is completed, charging begins the moment you plug in, with no need to open the app at all. For compatible vehicles, the entire process becomes fully hands-free, which is as close to a petrol station pump experience as EV charging currently gets.
Track Your Charging Session Without Touching Your Phone
chargEV 2.0 also introduces a lock screen widget that lets you monitor your charging progress without unlocking your device. iPhone users get a Live Activities widget, while Android users receive a Live Updates widget, both displaying real-time session information directly on the lock screen. It is a small but meaningful quality-of-life improvement for anyone who wants to keep an eye on their charge level without repeatedly pulling out their phone.
A Smarter Map With Better Filters and Quick Destinations
The app’s charging station map has been updated with improved filtering options. Users can now narrow down results by charging speed range, accepted payment methods, or specific charge point operators, making it considerably easier to find a charger that suits your vehicle and situation rather than scrolling through a full list.
For drivers with regular routes, the new Quick Destinations feature lets you save frequently visited locations, reducing the time spent re-entering the same destinations every time you need to plan around a charging stop.
