UMW Toyota Motor’s showcase in the ongoing KLIMS 2026 features three concept vehicles, its current hybrid and battery electric vehicle (BEV) lineup, and a Toyota Gazoo Racing display. If you do visit its booth sometime until this weekend, you’ll see the booth design which the company says draws from Japanese heritage presented within a modern mobility setting.
Toyota’s KLIMS 2026 Showcase
Unlike the strategy adopted mainly by Chinese automakers to funnel virtually all resources into battery-only EVs, Toyota is pretty adamant of its multi-pathway electrification approach, which includes hybrids – the kind that the Japanese automaker is very well-versed on – along with all-electric EVs as part of a gradual shift toward lower-carbon mobility options for Malaysian consumers.
The showcase features three concept models representing different aspects of Toyota’s future mobility direction: the Corolla Concept explores how the long-running Corolla nameplate might evolve in terms of design, packaging, and powertrain options; the IMV Origin, as a deliberately incompletely-built utility truck, puts its focus on supporting less accessible areas or commercial use cases, with an emphasis on adaptability and practicality.
While the first two models aims to preview how vehicles on the road in the future can be, the third concept is not the one for public roads – specifically, it’s for kids. The Toyota Kids mobi is a pod-shaped concept centered on AI-assisted personal mobility for children to support their “independence, confidence and growth.” That is to say, it’s not something that comes with a steering wheel or pedals like a car or even a quadricycle (i.e. Citroen Ami). Quirky, that’s for sure.
For the petrolheads out there, the showcase also includes the automaker’s Gazoo Racing (GR) section with performance models on display, a GR simulation game, and a merchandise area. UMW Toyota Motor frames its KLIMS 2026 participation around its established position in the Malaysian market, where the company has operated for over 60 years, and its focus on quality, durability, and reliability as foundations for its electrification rollout.
