vivo Malaysia has announced the launch of its latest entry-level smartphones, the vivo Y29 and vivo Y39. Both devices share largely similar specs, though they are both marketed towards “students and young professionals seeking a reliable and budget-friendly smartphone,” focusing on battery life, durability and entertainment features.
vivo Y29 & Y39 Launched

Both smartphones are equipped with an extra-large 6500mAh BlueVolt battery claimed to provide up to 73 hours of usage; according to vivo, the battery is designed to last at least five years and also supports reverse charging. Both models feature an IP64-rated dust and water resistance and a shock-proof design that can withstand drops of up to two meters.
Given that these are budget smartphones, the specs are, of course, modest: we’re talking about 6.68-inch HD+ LCD display, though still with a decent 120Hz refresh rate. Audio-wise, they feature dual stereo speakers that deliver a 400% louder volume. On the chipset’s side, the Y29 features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 685 SoC, while the Y39 packs the 5G-capable Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC instead. Despite the difference in exterior looks, the camera setup is the exact same: 50MP+2MP at the rear, with 8MP serving as the selfie shooter.
The vivo Y29 and vivo Y39 are now available in Malaysia at all official vivo stores, authorized retailers, and online platforms. Officially pricing is listed as RM799 and RM999, respectively.
Pokdepinion: Huge batteries indeed, for an otherwise pretty standard entry-level smartphone.
