Mac’s gaming roster will soon add another blockbuster – CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition is officially available on Apple silicon Macs starting July 17, 2025, through the Mac App Store, GOG.com, Steam, and Epic Games Store.
Cyberpunk 2077, Now On Macs
As with the PC version, Mac gamers can expect the Ultimate Edition to include the base game, along with the Phantom Liberty expansion. All major updates and patches to date are also included and ready to go, which includes the previously delayed Patch 2.3 – this update introduces enhancements such as new Photo Mode features and additional vehicles.
On technical side of things, the macOS version of Cyberpunk will support the full suite of Metal 4 API features, such as path tracing (MetalFX Denoising) and frame generation (MetalFX Frame Interpolation) – these will be added in a future update, says Apple. As of launch, the game supports Apple’s Tile-Based Deferred Rendering (TBDR) architecture and other optimizations to reduce CPU overhead for maximum performance; also included is the AMD FSR3 feature set that includes resolution upscaling and frame generation.
For owners of Apple XDR displays, Cyberpunk 2077 also features a specially tuned HDR profile exclusively to these panels, and AirPods users can utilize the built-in Spatial Audio with head-tracking implemented in this game. The game will also work with Magic Mouse and Trackpads, along with standard game controllers. Additionally, cross-progression is available across all platforms.
In terms of system requirements, all Apple Silicon Macs can run the game regardless of their form factors, provided the machine has 16GB of unified memory to boot (you’ll also need macOS 15.5 or later). That said, the experience you’ll get between a basic M1 MacBook to a fully decked-out Mac Studio with M3 Ultra chip will obviously be quite different – so to make things easy, the graphics presets will include a “For this Mac” option so you don’t have to figure out which switch to turn off.
