Bolt announced its integration with ChatGPT to make its ride-hailing service accessible through the AI platform across all markets where the rideshare app operates, including Malaysia. This opens the platform to ChatGPT’s user base, which is estimated to have 900 million weekly users worldwide.

Through the integration, users can view an upfront price estimate, compare route options and check estimated driver arrival times directly within ChatGPT; the platform also provides suggested pickup locations optimized to reduce waiting times. Once a user is ready to travel, booking details transfer to the Bolt app where the transaction is subsequently completed.

The company cited Accenture’s study surveying 18,000 consumers across 14 countries, which found 80% of travelers globally now use AI tools for travel-related purposes, with more than half indicating willingness to let AI manage their travel arrangements. “We think requesting a ride should be just as straightforward: ask, see the price, and go,” said Afzan Lutfi, General Manager for Malaysia at Bolt.

At launch, payment for rides booked through ChatGPT will continue to be processed through the Bolt app, though the platform stated it plans to add the ability to complete payments directly within ChatGPT “in the future.” You can find the integration through the ChatGPT app store.

Pokdepinion: Well, that assumes everyone uses ChatGPT – Gemini users won’t benefit from this, and that probably just made the argument less convincing already.
