New Honda City Hatchback Prepares For CKD Production
The new City Hatchback rollout follows closely on the heels of the recently-launched Honda City Sedan facelift, further expanding the City lineup for Malaysian consumers. Since its introduction in 2021, the City Hatchback has recorded cumulative sales of more than 51,000 units in Malaysia.
Honda describes the new model as being built for an active, modern lifestyle, targeting Malaysians who seek a balance of style, practicality, and flexibility – while no specific launch date or pricing has been confirmed at this stage, though the production rollout and opening of bookings signal the launch is approaching soon.

Honda Malaysia’s Melaka plant has been in operation since 2003, and continues to serve as the backbone of the brand’s local manufacturing activities. The plant supports a supply chain involving approximately 500 local suppliers and contributes to a broader ecosystem of nearly 20,000 associates nationwide, spanning Honda Malaysia itself, its dealership network, and supplier partners.
H.E. SHIKATA Noriyuki commended Honda Malaysia for integrating Japanese technology and manufacturing expertise with Malaysian talent and industrial capabilities, noting the company’s efforts in strengthening local supplier partnerships and domestic production capacity.

Honda Malaysia Managing Director and CEO Narushi Yazaki described the rollout as a reflection of the company’s dedication to manufacturing excellence and sustainable growth, positioning the New City Hatchback as a product designed to bring genuine value to Malaysian drivers.
