U Mobile announced it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with HLGY Energy to collaborate on smart solar farm solutions in Malaysia, powered by the telco’s ULTRA5G private network.

U Mobile & HLGY Energy’s Smart Solar Farm Plans

HLGY Energy is a Malaysian renewable energy developer focused on utility-scale solar and integrated energy solutions under Malaysia’s Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme (CRESS), including the Kedah Rubber City Solar Power Plant. Under the agreement, U Mobile will serve as HLGY Energy’s innovation, automation and communications infrastructure provider.

The private 5G network is intended to act as the digital backbone of the smart solar farm. Its secure, dedicated connectivity will support applications such as autonomous drone inspections, AI-powered analytics and smart CCTV surveillance, designed to enable remote monitoring, earlier issue detection and faster response to operational and maintenance needs.

HLGY Energy’s longer-term plans also include integrating AI with solar generation and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) operations. The goal is to optimise when energy is stored and supplied, reduce electricity costs and extend equipment lifespan as the company advances its ambitions under CRESS.

The collaboration is part of U Mobile’s broader enterprise growth strategy, applying its ULTRA5G network to the renewable energy sector. U Mobile positions this partnership as part of its ambition to be a digital solutions partner supporting businesses across Malaysia in their digital transformation efforts.
