The HONOR 600S has officially gone on sale nationwide in Malaysia, positioned as a rugged everyday smartphone with a certified 2.5-meter drop resistance, IP69K water resistance and a massive 8,100mAh battery. While it shares a similar name as the HONOR 600 Lite, this one sits even lower-end segment-wise despite seemingly similar price ranges.
HONOR 600S
The HONOR 600S is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset and comes with 4GB of RAM alongside 256GB of internal storage. It is available in two color options (shown above): Desert Gold and Velvet Black. Cameras involve a single 50MP lens assisted by an unspecified auxiliary lens, while the 6.82-inch display is a HD+ TFT LCD panel with 1020 nits of HBM max brightness.
On the durability front, the phone features a proprietary Cushioning and Fall Protection Architecture, which has earned a 5-Star All-round Drop Resistance rating under SGS Premium Performance Certification. In other words, it can withstand drops of up to 2.5 meters. For water resistance, it is triple-rated with IP68, IP69 and IP69K, which means the phone can handle high-temperature water of up to 85°C and remain functional in high-humidity conditions for up to 24 hours.
The 8,100mAh battery is rated for more than 21 hours of continuous video playback on social apps or over 15 hours of intensive gaming; charging is handled by 45W wired HONOR SuperCharge, and HONOR also claims the battery is built to last up to six years. The phone’s multi-point temperature monitoring system is engineered to maintain performance in temperatures ranging from -30°C to 50°C.
Like many budget phones, the HONOR 600S includes dual speakers with 400% volume output, wet touch mode for rain, and Instant NFC Access. Unlike said phones however, you still get an “AI Button” (which is mostly an imitation of Action Button found in iPhones) that can be mapped to certain functions.
Pricing & Availability
The HONOR 600S is now available nationwide through HONOR Experience Stores, official partners, online platforms and selected telcos at RM1,299. Each purchase comes with a free gift bundle worth RM199, which includes a one-year extended warranty and an RM100 instant rebate.
For those on postpaid plans, the HONOR 600S 5G can be obtained for free with CelcomDigi’s Pakej MegaJimat and U Mobile’s Ultra Global 98 plan. Maxis customers on the Postpaid 139 plan can also get the device at no upfront cost, while those on the Maxis Postpaid 109 plan pay RM59. Yes users can pick it up for RM67/month with the Infiniti+ Basic plan.
Pokdepinion: For sharing a similar name as the 600 series, this is a whole different phone altogether.
