Mastercard has launched a three-episode K-microdrama called Tap Into My Heart as part of a campaign to make payment safety and security more relatable for consumers across Southeast Asia, tapping into the globally popular Korean entertainment format to weave payment protection messages into emotional, everyday storylines rather than delivering them through conventional awareness campaigns.

Mastercard K-Microdrama Meets Payment Security Education

Developed in collaboration with McCann Singapore, Tap Into My Heart will roll out across Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines over eight weeks. Supporting short-form content from the series will be available on TikTok, Meta and YouTube throughout the campaign period.

The series draws on two trends shaping media consumption in Asia: the enduring global appetite for K-culture and the rapid rise of microdramas (aka duanju, which first popularized in China) as a content format. According to the 2026 Overseas Hallyu Survey, audiences across 30 countries spend an average of 14.7 hours per month consuming Korean content, with much of it discovered through social media and mobile-first platforms.

Microdramas have also emerged as one of the fastest-growing content formats across Asia, built around compact storytelling, emotional narratives and highly shareable episodes. Mastercard worked with a Korean director and cast to produce Tap Into My Heart, using genre hallmarks such as heightened emotion, suspicion, misdirection and romantic drama to carry payment security concepts naturally through the narrative.

Dheeraj Raina, Senior Vice President and Head of Integrated Marketing and Communications for Southeast Asia at Mastercard, said the campaign was designed to reach consumers through content they already engage with, rather than asking them to pay attention to another awareness campaign. The goal was to make payment safety and security more relatable, memorable and relevant to everyday life.

Tap Into My Heart is not Mastercard’s first attempt at using creative storytelling to communicate payment security. Earlier in 2026, the company collaborated with Sticky Monster Lab on Protected Monsters, a campaign that used AI-powered motion capture and creator-led digital content to translate payment safety concepts into everyday scenarios. The first episode of Tap Into My Heart is now available on YouTube (and below), with new episodes rolling out over the coming weeks.
