GTX 1060 3GB appears, stiff competition for the RX 470?

The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB is offers a tough match for the AMD Radeon RX 480, with NVIDIA claiming it to be around 10% faster than the AMD’s card. AMD has since released two lower end cards, the Radeon RX 470 and RX 460 which will be more affordable offerings from the red team. Well, it seems NVIDIA already has a counter for it in the form of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB.

The guys at BenchLife.info have revealed what appears to be the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB’s specifications. Aside from the lower amount of GDDR5 VRAM, it seems that the GTX 1060 3GB will also feature a lower amount of CUDA cores compared to the GTX 1060 6GB. The GTX 1060 3GB has 1152 CUDA cores, while the GTX 1060 6GB is packing 1280 cores. The GTX 1060 3GB will be equipped with a cut-down version of the GP106 GPU, the full version of which is found in the GTX 1060 6GB. What does this mean? A more affordable card than the already affordable GTX 1060 6GB. The GTX 1060 3GB is most probably developed to take on the Radeon RX 470, which is based on a cut-down Polaris 10 GPU too.
