PRO-NET (Proton New Energy Technology) and EV Connection (EVC), the operator of the JomCharge network, have introduced the PRONET-EVC Condominium EV Charging Infrastructure Programme aimed to fund new EV charger installations in condominiums.

PRO-NET & EVC’s Next Step In EV Transition

At the launch event, both parties have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with two objectives: ensure the availability of EV chargers in high-rise buildings, and keeping them affordable for EV owners. This aligns with the government’s goal of achieving 10,000 charging points by the end of 2025 and focuses on providing affordable charging options for residents in high-rise buildings, where approximately 70% of Klang Valley residents live.

The PRONET-EVC initiative includes the installation of EV chargers at 100 condominiums currently without such facilities and discounted charging rates for approximately 70 condominiums already on the JomCharge network. Before this, the collaboration has already completed 400 installations of home wall chargers for smart EV owners, with JomCharge integrated into PRO-NET’s now 600-strong national charging network.

EVC will fund the installation of the chargers, which will include infrastructure, compliance costs, a charger management system, and integration into the JomCharge network; condominium managements interested in participating can apply through EVC’s website, and selected applicants will also benefit from a revenue-sharing mechanism. For new condominiums, charging rates are set at RM0.70/kWh, with Proton e.MAS 7 users receiving an additional 10% discount from January 2025, reducing the rate to RM0.63/kWh.
