Apple Reportedly In The Works On The AirPower Charging Mat…Again

According to reports, Apple is considering on working on their long-awaited AirPower wireless charging mat, which was said to work for Apple’s range of products.

Apple AirPower In The Works Again?

Some of you might remember that last year, the company had finally decided to stop their efforts in releasing the AirPower charging mat. They’ve stated (at that time) that “AirPower will not achieve our high standards and we have cancelled the project”.

A year later, the founder of Front Page Tech, Jon Prosser report that the project has been revived, where he tweets the following;

AirPower isn’t dead 👀

The project is back on, internally. No guarantee that they’ll finalize and release it, but they haven’t given up yet and they’re trying to re-engineer the coils to displace heat more effectively. Prototyping is underway.

He’s said that Apple never got to release the charging mat due to the prototypes of the charging device being unable to support the Apple Watch, which they want it to be functional.

Despite all this, it is still unconfirmed on whether we will ever get to see the Apple AirPower to be released in the market. Do take it with a pinch of salt.
