Insta360 has announced a new gimbal camera to slot below the Luna Ultra, with the latest addition named Insta360 Luna Pro. The camera pairs a Leica Summicron lens with a 1-inch 8K sensor, and supports 8K Dolby Vision video, 10-bit I-Log color profiles and built-in timecode, and more features designed to work in more demanding production workflows.
Insta360 Luna Pro Revealed
The Insta360 Luna Pro’s Leica Summicron lens is paired with a 1-inch 8K sensor, which Insta360 said is designed to deliver strong detail and low-light performance. The camera uses a Dual AI Chip architecture, combining a dedicated imaging chip with a 4nm flagship chip to provide the processing power needed for advanced imaging and intelligent shooting features.
For short-form content, the camera supports native 4K30fps vertical video with 6K oversampling, and its touchscreen can be rotated to switch between vertical and horizontal shooting orientations. Luna Pro also records 8K video in Dolby Vision, along with slow-motion capture at 4K120fps and 1080p240fps. Zoom capabilities include up to 2x lossless zoom and 4x HighRes Zoom (which taps into AI for upscaling).
The camera includes 3-axis stabilisation, along with AI-powered Deep Track and Rapid Focus features designed to keep moving subjects in frame and in focus. A detachable 2-inch OLED touchscreen is included for composing and monitoring shots from different angles, alongside slide-to-start recording and twist-to-shoot controls for reduced setup time before filming.
Luna Pro offers up to four hours of battery life and includes 47GB of built-in storage; the camera can also connect directly to Insta360’s Mic Series for wireless audio capture. There’s a POV Head Tracker accessory for first-person content, plus NFC connectivity for faster file access and editing. Luna Pro also includes Leica color profiles, among them Leica Natural, Leica Vivid and Leica Chrome, along with a selection of built-in cinematic filters.
For post-production, the camera supports 10-bit I-Log recording, along with compatibility with ACES color grading workflows. Built-in timecode is included to simplify track syncing across multi-camera productions, with integration for Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro as well. The Insta360 app also includes AI-powered editing tools for quick editing workflows.
Insta360 Luna Pro is available starting 10 September through the Insta360 Store, Amazon and select retailers worldwide, with pricing for the Standard Bundle starting at RM2,099. The camera is available in Cosmic Black and Stellar White colorways.
