More PC manufacturers are joining the battle of gaming handhelds, and now the latest one could be a bit surprising: ZOTAC, who is better known for its GPU offerings, is now making a gaming handheld.

As the first ever handheld launched by the HK-based company, the specs of the ZOTAC GAMING ZONE (that’s the name) pulls no punches: it’ll be powered by an unnamed Ryzen APU, plus hall effect joysticks and 2-stage adjustable triggers which allows better playability. CEO Tony Wong said the handheld will be “competitive” feature-wise, but we should know more when the device is showcased in the upcoming Computex 2024.

On the side of GPUs, since NVIDIA hasn’t announced any new models for a while, there will not be any new designs from ZOTAC themselves (they’ll showcase some AI-related experiments with them). Still, they’ve found another way to showcase their engineering prowess with the new External GPU Box (EGB) series. It’s essentially an external GPU enclosure, which packs the RTX Ada Generation GPUs and transmits data via Thunderbolt 3 for workstation and AI-related workloads.

The ZBOX line of mini PCs has gotten some decent popularity since last year, utilizing the innovative solid state cooling system; this year, the lineup returns featuring the new Intel Core Ultra (Meteor Lake) and AMD Zen4-based processors. The company will also be showcasing embedded/enterprise products such as NVIDIA Jetson ARM-based mini PCs, ZOTAC BOLT Workstation system, and medical-certified PCs.

Here’s the event page if you want to know more on the upcoming products ZOTAC will be showcasing next week. Those in Taiwan can see them up close by visiting Booth No. N0507a,  4/F, NANGANG Exhibition Hall, from June 4, 2024 to June 7, 2024.
