Acer Expands Vero Line With Upgraded Laptop And New Projector

For eco-conscious users, Acer introduced the new Aspire Vero 15 laptop and Vero PL3510ATV projector with focus on reducing carbon footprint and increased power efficiency.

The Acer Aspire Vero 15, now with updated internals courtesy of Intel Evo-certified 13th Gen CPU (up to Core i7) with its onboard Iris Xe Graphics, plus 16GB LPDDR5 and two M.2 SSD slots that supports up to 1TB of storage.

The display is a 15.6 inch FHD panel with the more traditional 16:9 aspect ratio with 100% sRGB coverage – which is among the rarer models that still use this size as laptops are moving towards the new 16:10 standard. Meanwhile, the webcam array consists of a single QHD camera with AI noise reduction on microphones; connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6E, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, two USB-A ports (5Gbps), HDMI 2.1, barrel jack DC-in and audio jack.

The carbon footprint is reduced through the use of post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastics in 40% (from 30%) of its chassis material while maintaining its durability – all while reducing CO₂ emissions by 30% during the production process. Other components including keycaps and touchpads contain various degrees of recycled plastic as well. To help with longevity, the screws are standardized to simplify repairs and recycling in the laptop’s lifespan. The packaging can also be doubled as a laptop stand, while the built-in VeroSense app helps the user maintain the laptop’s battery consumption and lifespan.

Acer also introduces the Vero PL3510ATV projector, with 4,800 lumens of brightness and FHD resolution, it provides up to 50,000:1 contrast ratio with the laser-light projection, which consumes 48% less power than lamp-based equivalents. The chassis also contains 50% PCR plastics, and the 30,000 hour lifespan should make this projector advantageous in TCO (total cost of ownership) calculations.

The projector also supports IP5X dust resistance and 24/7 continuous projection, and a built-in 10W speaker for audio. It also includes audio return channel (ARC) for external audio devices, plus Android TV and Chromecast support with the included dongle.

As for the availability, Acer states that the Aspire Vero 15 will be rolling out in May in select regions with the price $699 (local pricing TBA), while the Vero PL3510ATV projector is currently exclusive to EMEA regions with September launch.

Pokdepinion: The Aspire Vero should really go for 16:10 displays – even gaming laptops are already onboard by now.
