Following the debut of Google’s new “Googlebook” class of laptops, Acer has unveiled the Acer Googlebook 14, which it claims is the industry’s first convertible Googlebook. Unlike Chromebook of the past often associated with low-end hardware, this new model features premium materials, Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors, and deep integration with Android phones for seamless cross-device workflows.
Meet Acer Googlebook 14
The Acer Googlebook 14 is powered by up to an Intel Core Ultra 7 355 processor, which includes a built-in NPU capable of up to 50 TOPS for lightweight AI workloads. It supports up to 32GB of LPDDR5X-7467 RAM and up to 512GB of PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD storage, while the 71Wh battery delivers up to 16 hours of web browsing or up to 14 hours of local video playback on a single charge, with fast charging capable of reaching 50% in 30 minutes.
The Acer Googlebook 14 features a 14-inch 3K OLED touch display (2880×1800) with a 16:10 aspect ratio, 500-nit brightness, 100% DCI-P3 color accuracy, and a Corning Gorilla Glass surface; it is also compatible with USI 2.0 styluses (sold separately). DTS-tuned audio is delivered through dual upward-facing stereo speakers.
The chassis is crafted from an aluminum-magnesium alloy and finished in Elemental Blue with “Comfort Touch” treatment on palm rest and bottom cover for a silky finish, with the entire device weighing just 1.14 kg and measuring 13.9 mm thin. The 360-degree hinges are MIL-STD 810H certified for durability, with Acer claiming rated for 20,000 open/close cycles.
A signature feature of Googlebooks is the “Glowbar” on the top cover, which serves two functions: one is to display battery and charging status through color and pattern variations, and the other is a gimmick – to show that AI is working its magic. Because this is 2026 after all. Security features include a fingerprint reader integrated into the power button and a Google Titan-C Security Chip, while the 5MP webcam includes a physical privacy shutter and pairs with a triple microphone array for video calls.
On the software side, Google’s Gemini Intelligence powers several cross-device features. “Continue On” lets users pick up tasks started on an Android phone directly on the Googlebook, while Cast My Apps brings Android phone applications to the laptop without requiring a separate install, provided the phone runs Android 17 or above. Proactive context-aware suggestions are also built in, surfacing relevant actions based on what is currently on screen.
Connectivity is handled by Intel Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0, while the port selection includes one Thunderbolt 4 Type-C port supporting up to 40Gbps data transfer and 100W power delivery, along with two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports placed on opposite sides of the chassis. Pricing & Availability
The Acer Googlebook 14 will be available in North America from October 2026 starting at USD 899, in EMEA from October 2026 starting at EUR 1,199, and in Australia from November 2026 starting at AUD 2,599 (Acer notes that these are all “limited-time offers” so we suspect this is potentially subject to memory pricing down the line). Malaysian pricing and availability have not been announced at this time. Each unit comes bundled with 12 months of Google AI Pro, which includes access to Gemini, Flow, Gemini Notebook, and 5TB of cloud storage.
Pokdepinion: If convincing users to move away from Windows is already darn near impossible as it is today (despite Microsoft shooting itself in the leg several times at this point), I don’t think Googlebook is going to change the status quo anytime soon, especially if the main feature is more or less an AI-shaped gimmick.
