ASUS Touts ExpertBook B5 Series As The World’s Lightest Business Laptop
ASUS Malaysia just announced the new ExpertBook B5 lineup aimed at business users. The laptop comes in three configurations, two of which sporting the latest Intel Core i7-1360P vPro Essential (ExpertBook B5 OLED), and the third model featuring vPro Enterprise version of the Core i7-1270P (ExpertBook B5 Flip OLED). The vPro Enterprise version enables additional management features such as remote device erase and one-click recovery (details here).
The convertible aluminum and magnesium-alloy chassis features a 16-inch, 16:10 4K+ OLED panel and supports 100% DCI-P3 color space, with the B5 Flip OLED gaining touch and stylus support. All models feature Wi-Fi 6E, configurable RAM up to 40GB DDR5-4800 (8GB soldered onboard), two SSD slots with optional RAID 0/1 support and the range-topping model getting optional Intel Arc A350M graphics.
ASUS touts the lightest configuration of this laptop drops the weight down to just 1.4kg – light enough for ASUS to claim a world record for it. However, that model comes at a cost of smaller 50Wh battery to slash weight, but other versions comes with bigger 84Wh battery that can last up to 14 hours with a minor weight penalty (which you’re unlikely to notice).
Other features include TPM 2.0 chip for enhanced security, physical webcam shutter, MIL-STD-810H military standard certification, spill resistant keyboards and ExpertWidget for mapping custom hotkeys. The price starts at RM7,699 – covered under 3 years of global warranty, battery warranty and 1-year Perfect Warranty.
Pokdepinion: For a 16-inch laptop, that’s a very light chassis.
