[CES 2024] ASUS Updates TUF Gaming Laptops With 16-Inch Displays
ASUS Updates TUF Gaming Laptops With 16-Inch Displays
ASUS’s budget gaming laptop lineup is finally getting the 16:10 treatment across the board – the TUF Gaming previously featured just the 15-inch and 17-inch variants (both 16:9 displays), except for the TUF A16 Advantage Edition model that featured all-AMD hardware released last year.
The new lineup largely retained the same design language as the previous model year, though the inclusion of taller displays should bring it in line with most laptop displays released in recent years. Despite the increase in screen size, all three models – namely F16, A16, and A15 – all feature the same dimensions, except for thickness where the 16-inch models are now 3mm thicker (at 28.25mm) than the 15-inch model.
Both 16-inch variants also feature two display options, including an FHD+ 16:10 panel and QHD+ 16:10 panel – they both are 165Hz, support 100% sRGB color gamut, and pixel response time of 3 milliseconds. However, the Intel variant will feature a Thunderbolt 4 port, whereas the AMD equivalent will use the USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C standard. They’ll be available in two colors: Jaeger Gray, and Mecha Gray.
The Intel-powered F16 model will use Intel’s 13th Gen processors, in this case, the Core i7-13650HX with 6P+8E core configuration. It’s also loaded with NVIDIA RTX 4060 Laptop GPU at 130W TGP, paired with 32GB of DDR5-4800 RAM and up to 2TB of SSD. Meanwhile, the AMD-powered A16 model gets beefier hardware in the form of 12-core Ryzen 9 7845HX, as well as an NVIDIA RTX 4070 Laptop GPU with 140W TGP on tap. The faster 32GB DDR5-5200 RAM and up to 2TB of SSD complement the system.
For the refreshed TUF A15, it’ll come with AMD’s latest Ryzen 8000 series processors and up to NVIDIA RTX 4070 Laptop GPU (140W TGP) available. It’s paired with up to 2TB of SSD, and even faster RAM – totaling 32GB at 5600MT/s. Here there’s only a single display option, which is the 15-inch QHD IPS panel at 165Hz/3ms, and 100% DCI-P3 color space. All three laptops come packed with a 90Wh battery, MUX switch, and a single-zone RGB keyboard.
ASUS Malaysia says select TUF models will be available starting January 19th, 2024, so expect details on pricing by then.
Pokdepinion: Pretty solid upgrade in general.
