Dell is rebranding its products from the ground up, and the new names is perhaps bland at best. Still, Dell argues that complex naming is what drives customers away from purchases, and they want to make it simple – by laying out all models under three lineups: Dell, Dell Pro, and Dell Pro Max. Certainly smells like apple out here, isn’t it?
Dell Rebrands Everything: Dell, Dell Pro, Dell Pro Max
Aside from the three lineups, each of them is further split into variants like Base, Plus, and Premium. It certainly sounds like not only Dell is taking a page out of Apple’s marketing playbook, they took some ideas from the automotive industry as well. All put together, and you get product names such as “Dell Pro Max 14” or “Dell 16 Plus”, or “Dell Pro 14 Premium”. Good luck figuring out which word is the more superlative one.
This branding isn’t just for laptops either – every Dell product after this point will adopt these new names (RIP XPS), and in their words, this is to maintain “a consistent customer experience across the entire client portfolio.” Potentially confusing names aside, what are the new products bearing the new branding? Dell has unveiled its first wave of laptops this CES 2025, and here’s the entire lineup laid out in a list:
Branding | Variants |
---|---|
Dell | 14 Plus 14 Plus 2-in-1 16 Plus 16 Plus 2-in-1 |
Dell Pro | 13 Premium 14 Premium 13 Plus 14 Plus 16 Plus 14 16 |
Dell Pro Max | 14 16 |
For monitors, Dell is not quite sticking to the same branding. You still get Dell and Dell Pro SKUs, but the Dell Pro Max is instead replaced with the existing Dell UltraSharp branding here, which includes the new Dell UltraSharp 32 4K U3225QE and Dell UltraSharp 27 4K U2725QE. Down the line, Dell also announced the Dell 32 Plus 4K QD-OLED (S3225QC) monitor. The company has also announced that Dell Pro and Dell Pro Max desktops will be coming, though no specific models have been revealed so far.
Pokdepinion: Not sure if this works, but good effort trying I guess.
