With the debut of Copilot+ PCs this Tuesday, Dell today is announcing the new XPS 13 laptop with Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite SoC for the Malaysian market. While the new XPS 13 is part of the new Copilot+ PC lineup with various AI-enabled features exclusive to this class of laptops, Recall is notably absent due to the recent controversy.
XPS 13, Now In Snapdragon Flavor

While Dell officially offers two Snapdragon SoC options for this laptop (one with X Elite and the other being X Plus), the variant for Malaysian market will come exclusively with the Snapdragon X Elite X1E-80-100, on top of the existing Intel-powered variants powered by Meteor Lake (Core Ultra) processors. This Snapdragon chip gives you a total of 12 cores, with 4.0GHz boost clock for two cores, and an integrated Adreno GPU plus 45 TOPS Hexagon NPU.
The laptop otherwise comes with fairly wide range of configurability – for the starting price of RM6,999, you get 16GB LPDDR5X-8448 RAM, 512GB M.2 PCIe SSD, and a 13.4-inch FHD+ panel with 120Hz variable refresh rate (we think it’s VA panel based on its 2000:1 contrast ratio). If you’re willing to splurge for more, the top spec includes 64GB LPDDR5X RAM, 2TB SSD, and 13.4-inch 3K tandem OLED panel (essentially stacking two OLED layers together which helps with lifespan) with 400 nits of brightness. Max all the specs, and it’ll cost you RM11,199.

The premise of Snapdragon-powered laptops mainly comes down to battery life, and Dell is claiming plenty of it for the XPS 13 – up to 27 hours, they claim. We’ll have to verify the numbers to know, but usually you don’t see laptop makers claiming battery life remotely close to that, so it’s looking pretty promising for these new batch of laptops.
Pokdepinion: It’ll be interesting to see how well Arm-based laptops like this one deal with Windows since the last (failed) attempt.
