Massive Dell Leak Reveals All The Future CPU Codenames And Release Timeline
Recently, Videocardz has obtained a huge trove of data originating from major PC vendor Dell, containing much of the information surrounding its XPS line of laptops in particular. Amongst the information obtained, they have included information on future-gen designs from all three major PC chipmakers – Intel, AMD, and even the new entrant Qualcomm. The leak also contained more details on the upcoming XPS 13 laptop spotted recently.
In the documents, various CPU codenames were revealed with release dates of the XPS laptops featuring the respective models. Here’s a timeline of which Dell expects to release new XPS laptops featuring a specific generation of CPUs:
Codename | Marketed Name | Release Timeframe |
Intel Lunar Lake-MX | Intel Core Ultra 200V | Sep 2024 |
Intel Arrow Lake-H/U/P | Intel Core Ultra 200 | Q1 2025 |
Qualcomm Oryon (Snapdragon X Series) | Qualcomm Snapdragon X V2 | 2H 2025 |
Intel Panther Lake-H/U/P | Intel Core Ultra 300 | Q4 2025 |
Intel Nova Lake-H/U/P | Intel Core Ultra 400 | Q4 2026 |
AMD “Next-Gen” | AMD Ryzen AI HX | Q1 2027 |
Qualcomm Oryon (Snapdragon X Series) | Qualcomm Snapdragon X V3 | Q4 2027 |
One interesting addition is the inclusion of AMD silicon, which has never been present in any XPS machine since 2009. Those waiting for an AMD-powered XPS will need to wait until 2027 before it is introduced to the market; aside from that, the document has also revealed Qualcomm’s plans on next-gen silicon, for which the company hasn’t officially announced any plans publicly thus far.
In other news, Wccftech has discovered via the files shared by Videocardz containing the information about the Qualcomm-powered XPS 13 Plus laptop releasing very soon. Internally, the laptop is referred to as “TributoQC”, and various comparisons were referencing the current Intel Raptor Lake-powered model (13th Gen Core) with the internal codename of “TributoRPL”. The Qualcomm chips are also referred to as “Nuvia” (the company that designs the Oryon core which was later acquired by Qualcomm) in the documents.
There are a lot more details that we’ve not covered here and some are highly technical – if you’re interested to read the ins and outs of Dell’s XPS plans, here’s the original file on Scribd.
Pokdepinion: Lots of information here with a lot of technical stuff detailed too. Somebody at Dell is going to have a really bad time I suppose.
