Meet The Acer Chromebook Plus Laptops, As Part Of Google’s Latest Laptop Initiative
Acer has launched two new Chromebook Plus laptops, the Acer Chromebook Plus 515 and Acer Chromebook Plus 514. These laptops are part of Google’s “Chromebook Plus” certification initiative, offering enhanced hardware designs with upgraded displays and cameras, along with new AI-assisted productivity, creativity, and multimedia features.
The Acer Chromebook Plus laptops offer advanced capabilities for productivity and creativity, including Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Express for easy photo editing and graphic design. Users can also access Photoshop on the web and enjoy Adobe Express Premium for three months at no extra cost; they also feature built-in editing tools, such as AI-powered Magic Eraser for photo editing and movie creation tools for video editing.
In terms of hardware, it comes with 8GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512 GB of SSD storage, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity. I/O includes USB-C ports for charging, data transfer, and HDMI display output. Both models have 1080p webcams with Temporal Noise Reduction (TNR) and AI-powered enhancements for video conferencing, along with dual upward-firing speakers.
The Acer Chromebook Plus 515 features 13th Gen and 12th Gen Intel Core processors, a 15.6-inch FHD display, with optional touchscreen; meanwhile, the Acer Chromebook Plus 514 is powered by an AMD Ryzen 5 7520C processor (a Zen 2, Chromebook-exclusive variant) and boasts a 14-inch FHD+ display with a 16:10 aspect ratio, also optionally available as touch-enabled panel.
For schools, both laptops offer Chrome Education Upgrade for seamless device management, while businesses can opt for the Acer Chromebook Plus Enterprise 515 and Acer Chromebook Plus Enterprise 514 with Chrome Enterprise Upgrade, providing advanced security and management features. Both models will go on sale in US and EMEA regions starting this October with the price of $399 – no local availability information has been announced at this writing.
