The Pixel 9 series is proving difficult for Google to keep under wraps, with a constant stream of leaks leading up to its official launch. The latest leak offers an in-depth look at the specifications of the Pixel 9 Pro XL, Google’s upcoming flagship.

Google Pixel 9 Pro XL Leaked Specs

The Pixel 9 series, including the Pixel 9 Pro XL, will come pre-installed with the current Android 14, a departure from the usual practice of introducing new Pixel phones alongside a fresh Android version. This shift is likely due to the accelerated launch schedule, with the Pixel 9 series expected earlier than usual, following the Pixel 8’s November release. Google has also committed to providing 7 years of Feature Drops for the 9-series, ensuring long-term support and updates.

At the heart of the Pixel 9 Pro XL is the Google Tensor G4 chipset, paired with the Titan M2 security chip. The Pro XL model will offer 16GB of RAM and 128GB of base storage, with options extending up to 1TB. The base price is set at $1,100, with the 256GB model priced at $1,200. However, early adopters who pre-order may enjoy a complimentary upgrade to 512GB storage.

The Pixel 9 Pro XL earns its name with a sizable 6.8-inch OLED display, boasting a resolution of 1,344 x 2,992 pixels and a peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits. This is an improvement over earlier leaks that suggested a slightly smaller display and lower brightness. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and features a 42MP selfie camera with an f/2.2 lens embedded within a punch-hole design.

On the rear, the Pixel 9 Pro XL is equipped with a powerful camera array, including a 50MP wide camera with an f/1.68 lens, a 48MP 5x periscope telephoto lens (f/2.8), and a 48MP ultra-wide camera with a 123° field of view and f/1.7 aperture. The main camera is expected to use a Samsung GNK 1/1.31” sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), while the ultra-wide lens will feature the Sony IMX585 sensor. The Pro and Pro XL models also boast a telephoto module using the IMX858 sensor with OIS, the same sensor used for the selfie camera.

While the latest leak doesn’t specify battery details, previous information indicates that the Pixel 9 Pro XL will feature a 5,060mAh battery with 45W wired charging. Wireless charging speeds are yet to be confirmed.

Google is integrating its Gemini AI into the Pixel 9 series, introducing several new functionalities. The Pixel Studio app will leverage AI to create images, while the Reimagine feature will allow users to transform objects in photos—for example, turning a road into a river. An AI-powered Weather app will provide weather summaries and outfit suggestions, and the Screenshot Search function will enable users to locate specific screenshots using natural language prompts.

The Pixel 9 series, including the second-generation Pixel Fold, is set to be officially unveiled on August 13. With all the leaks and rumors circulating, Google’s latest lineup is shaping up to be an exciting addition to the smartphone market.
