HONOR’s latest publicity stunt for its upcoming Magic V3 foldable smartphone involves a Guinness World Record challenge, where the device is balanced on top of a 54-level house of cards to demonstrate the device’s lightness.
House Of Cards (And A Magic V3)

The challenge was conducted in collaboration with Bryan Berg, a Guinness World Record holder for card stacking. In an 8-hour livestream, Berg constructed the tallest house of cards without the use of glue, after that the HONOR Magic V3 was placed on top, while the structure remained intact.
As a matter of fact, the Magic V3 weighs 226 grams, which is the lightest to date for the Chinese smartphone maker; aside from its weight, it’s also roughly equal in terms of thickness against a traditional smartphone in “candy bar” form factor.

In addition to its lightweight properties, the Magic V3 also underwent a durability test by being subjected to a 15-minute cycle in a washing machine. Spoiler alert, it survived liquids and dings in a place where foreign objects can get pretty beaten up (do not try this at home, however).
The company says Magic V3 features a back cover made from a “unique fiber” derived from aerospace materials, providing strength of 5800 MPa, which surpasses both Kevlar and carbon fiber. It also quotes that the foldable’s body is 40 times more impact-resistant than Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, while being 40% thinner. Besides that, the thinner hinge is upgraded to withstand up to 500,000 folds and has received the SGS Durability Certification.
Finally, the foldable’s 6.43-inch external display is protected by its Anti-Scratch NanoCrystal Shield technology, offering 10 times more drop and scratch resistance than regular glass. Water resistance is quoted as IPX8, though the depth resistance is rated up to 2.5 meters, which is significantly higher than IPX8’s official standards.
Pokdepinion: I have to ask, would Magic V3 survive the height of the house of cards in case it falls?
