HONOR has announced the launch of the HONOR X9d in Malaysia, continuing the proud tradition of X series’ durability prowess with the new “Triple Resistant Durability” feature – meaning protection against drops and cracks, internal damages, and anything that Mother Nature can throw at it.
HONOR X9d

HONOR X9d’s protection structure begins from the surface with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 tucked into the flat display design, which is a returning feature thanks to popular demand. Like the Magic V5 foldable, it too has a non-Newtonian fluid layer that hardens on impact to protect internal components. The internal structure is said to be inspired by airbags in cars, with a 6-layer shock-absorbing framework that helps protect internal components from damage, which can happen even if the outside looks perfectly unscathed from drops.

Besides impact protection, the HONOR X9d is the first in the X series to achieve IP69K water and dust resistance, withstanding immersion up to six meters and exposure to high-temperature (85°C) splashes, and it features a drainage and dust removal function by vibrating both of its speakers at specific frequencies. In fact, HONOR is so confident at the X9d’s water resistance that it offers a one-year liquid damage protection warranty, on top of the screen crack warranty already provided to many of its models.

This bit will be exciting for people with battery anxiety: the smartphone’s unassuming 7.8mm thick profile will house one of the largest battery ever found in a smartphone – 8,300mAh to be exact. You definitely need a powerful fast charging to get it topped up in relatively quick speed, so there’s a 66W wired fast charging, along with 7.5W reverse charging for powering other devices, including fully charging an iPhone, apparently. Powering the smartphone is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chipset with 12GB of RAM onboard.
For imaging, the HONOR X9d includes a 108MP main camera with OIS, and it gets the same AI editing features you’ll find in other HONOR phones; the display is a 6.79-inch OLED panel with 1.5K resolution, up to 6,000 nits peak brightness, and 3,840Hz PWM dimming, with eye comfort features such as Circadian Night Display and hardware-level low blue light protection. There’s also NFC support – good news for Touch ‘n Go NFC card users, and it’ll be the first smartphone to preload the MyDigital ID app for immediate access upon setting up the device.

The HONOR X9d is priced at RM1,499 for 12GB+256GB variant, or RM1,699 for the 12GB+512GB variant. It is offered in Reddish Brown, Forest Green, Sunrise Gold, and Midnight Black, and will be available nationwide from 10 October 2025. As a bonus, the company has also announced the new HONOR X7d with IP65, 6500mAh battery, and 512GB storage costing RM799, as well as the HONOR Pad X7 tablet at RM499 (free if you pre-order the X9d).
Pokdepinion: This smartphone is looking a bit indestructible now, isn’t it?
