Nothing Confirms Phone (2a) As The Name For Its Upcoming Smartphone
Following Phone (1) and Phone (2), the London-based smartphone maker led by ex-OnePlus Carl Pei is announcing its third model named Phone (2a), via the recent quarterly Community Update.
The company aims to get the basics done right with this upcoming model, with a focus on “providing the optimal daily smartphone experience.” Currently, the smartphone is given the internal codename of “Aerodactyl” (a type of Pokėmon). According to Nothing, Phone (2a) is aimed to provide a “clear upgrade” over Phone (1), while leveraging the best core features from Phone (2).
So far, rumors on the smartphone’s specs remain limited for now. The processing hardware is rumored to make the switch from Qualcomm to MediaTek, with the latter’s Dimensity 7200 SoC expected to be powering the new model, coupled with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The cameras are suggested to feature a 50MP main shooter and a 16MP selfie camera.
Aside from the name announcement, Nothing has also launched the Glyph Developer Kit, providing 3rd party app developers a way to utilize Nothing’s exclusive Glyph interface (such as the rear-facing LEDs). Additionally, the company’s budget sub-brand CMF by Nothing is also announcing that CMF Buds and CMG Neckband Pro are launching later this year.
