Here Are The Key Announcements From Sony’s State of Play Event In 2024
Sony’s State of Play event is back – following a few months since the previous running in September 2023. This time around, there are a few more key announcements and new releases to look forward to, coming to the PS5 console this coming year.
First off, Stellar Blade, a South Korean production, has presented the new gameplay trailer, as well as the game’s release date. Starting February 7, 2024, players may begin preordering the game until the official release date of April 26, 2024, available exclusively to PS5. Stellar Blade follows the protagonist Eve and her squad in a battle against Naytibas, an unknown threat to humanity’s survival.
Rise of the Ronin also showcased the combat, traversal, and various gameplay mechanics via its latest gameplay trailer. Team Ninja’s upcoming release will be an open-world fighting game that will involve weapons from classic swords to Western-style machinery, and you’ll be taking Ronin through Japan in the late 19th century, with plenty of exploring opportunities to be had throughout the game. The game will be released on March 22, 2024.
Next up is the enhanced, remastered version of Until Dawn coming to both PS5 and PC later this year. The remake by Ballistic Moon is powered by the Unreal Engine 5, one of the most advanced game engines available today with much of the advanced graphics technologies on offer. The technical upgrade involves improved animations, environments, VFX, and an all-new soundscape to crank that horror factor up a notch.
Finally, there’s Hideo Kojima. As one of the greatest game creators in the industry, his Kojima Productions is here to introduce two games: Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, and PHYSINT. The second Death Stranding title, slated for 2025 release, will see Sam and his companions save humanity from extinction. PHYSINT marks the return to the action-espionage genre for Kojima, and you can watch this video with a short message from the man himself to expect what’s to come.
