Nothing has unveiled two new products earlier this week: Nothing Phone (4b), the first smartphone in its budget (b) series, and Nothing Ear (3a), the second generation of its (a) series earbuds. As usual, both devices combine Nothing’s signature design language with updated hardware and software features.

The Nothing Phone (4b) serves as an entry point to the Nothing product ecosystem, comprising Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chipset, 8GB LPDDR4X RAM, 128GB UFS 2.2 storage, a 6.77-inch 120Hz 2000-nit Super AMOLED display, plus 50MP+8MP cameras as its spec highlights. In particular, the Snapdragon chipset is paired with a 4,400mm² vapor chamber that keeps the device up to 2°C cooler during demanding workloads. It also features the largest battery in a Nothing smartphone to date, at 5,200mAh, with 33W wired fast charging support.

Known for its quirky designs, the brand’s new entry-level model blends the Glyph Bar introduced with Phone (4a) with the unibody design of Phone (4a) Pro, using a soft polymer camera module that transitions into an eco-polycarbonate unibody. The chassis is claimed to be capable of withstanding up to 600 Newtons of bending force, and is rated IP64 for ingress protection. Software-wise, it comes with Android 16 plus 3 years of Android updates and 6 years of security patches. Three color options are available: Black, White, and Blue.

Meanwhile, the Nothing Ear (3a) introduces a bolder color palette with a new Pink finish alongside Black, White, and an updated Yellow color option. The earbuds include 32MB of built-in flash storage, enabling a feature called Audio Snapshot, which allows users to capture audio moments directly through the earbuds by pinching both sides, recording audio from before and after the trigger point; recordings can be synced to the Nothing X app for playback, editing, sharing, and transcription.

The Ear (3a) also supports direct call and meeting recording for up to approximately two hours through a simple gesture, with a privacy notification alerting other participants when recording is active. Hardware-wise, the earbuds use a 12mm dynamic driver per side, with Hi-Res Audio Wireless certification and support for LDAC audio transmission up to 24-bit/96 kHz. Sound can be tuned via an 8-band equalizer via the Nothing X app.

Its ANC can deliver up to 45dB suppression, with coverage improved by 17.1% compared to the previous generation; three onboard microphones on each earbud work with an AI-based noise reduction system during calls, alongside a Transparency Mode for outside sound. For battery, Ear (3a) delivers up to 10 hours of playback with ANC disabled (up to 42 hours with the case) and up to 6 hours with ANC enabled (up to 25 hours with the case).

Pricing and Availability

Nothing has only said the global sales for Phone (4b) will commence starting 17 July 2026, though no word on local pricing and availability just yet; based on UK pricing, £299 (for 8+128GB) should point to somewhere in the middle of RM1K range (current exchange rates says ~RM1,634, but that’s before tax and shipping costs are taken into account). As for Ear (3a), we’re looking at £99, so halfway into a thousand Ringgit could be what we see when it gets launched here.

Pokdepinion: Quirky as usual. Hopefully the trend of over-minimalism never gets the best of them.
