Samsung Introduces Galaxy A55 & A35: 6.6 Inches, Knox Vault & More
Samsung launched the Galaxy A55 5G and A35 5G, bringing advanced security like Knox Vault, improved photography, and dynamic displays to more affordable price points.
The Galaxy A55 5G features enhanced Nightography, with AI-assisted ISP (image signal processor) used to enhance low-light conditions. Both A55 and A35 come with optical image stabilization (OIS) and video digital image stabilization (VDIS), both aimed to reduce camera shake in the resulting images and clips. Both models get the same 50MP main camera and 5MP macro camera; while the A55 gets a 12MP ultrawide and 32MP front-facing camera, the A35 gets an 8MP and 13MP sensor respectively.
Another common feature shared between both models is the 6.6-inch Super AMOLED FHD+ display with up to 120Hz refresh rate and the Visual Booster feature that improves readability under various lighting conditions. Besides, both shares the same 5,000mAh battery, and 256GB of onboard storage.
Samsung also introduced Knox Vault to the Galaxy A series for the first time, providing hardware-based security which has been a mainstay for the company’s flagship devices. Essentially, Knox Vault is operated in isolation from the main system’s processor and memory, which (ideally) reduces the attack surfaces via exploits. To further strengthen the security, the optional Auto Blocker feature can block unknown apps, commands, as well as executions from USB connections.
At this writing, Samsung has yet to publish availability and pricing information – though you can expect these to arrive in the coming weeks.
