Last November, Qualcomm announced its latest top-of-the-line processor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which features a new Adreno 740 GPU and delivers improved performance and efficiency. Its successor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, is currently in development and recent Geekbench listings suggest that it will offer even greater advancements. The good news is that the new system-on-chip (SoC) may arrive earlier than expected.

Although the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is anticipated to be unveiled in November, the same time frame as its predecessor, sources suggest that Qualcomm may be ahead of schedule with its development and could launch it earlier. Digital Chat Station, a reputable tipster, did not provide a specific release date but indicates that we can anticipate the SoC to be introduced sometime in October.

According to Mr. Chat Station, devices equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will start being released in Q4 of this year. The new processor is expected to power many of the high-end smartphones that are due to arrive in the latter part of this year and early next year. This may include devices from Chinese manufacturers such as Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo.

As the official launch of the chipset is still a ways off, there is limited information available about its specifications. However, a recent Geekbench listing indicates that the SoC achieved a single-core score of 1,930 and a multi-core score of 6,236, demonstrating around a 25% increase in CPU performance compared to the current best Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Further details about the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 should become available in the next few days, so stay tuned for updates.
